At 11:13AM, June 21, 2024, the Atlantic Highlands Fire Dept was dispatched to 25 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands for a smoke condition in the building. Upon arrival of Atlantic Highlands Police, officers reported a heavy smoke condition coming from the unoccupied business on the ground floor of the 3 story commercial building.

A Box Alarm assignment (mutual aid) was requested by Fire Chief Cody Burbank. Upon arrival of the first Engine (8575), Deputy Fire Chief Scott Burbank directed the crew to stretch a hand line to the front door of the affected business. The fire was located in an office, at a fish tank by Atlantic Highlands Police Officers. The fire had partially self extinguished when the fish tank ruptured from the fire and officers used dry chemical extinguishers on the remaining fire. The additional floors of the building were checked for extension of fire and smoke, which was unfounded. The building was ventilated of smoke by the Fire Department.

The office sustained water and smoke damage.

Agencies that responded were: Atlantic Highlands Fire Department (Sta. 85-1), Community Fire Company (Middletown Sta. 31-4), Sea Bright Fire/Rescue (Sta. 43-1), Belford Independent Fire Company (Middletown Sta. 31-7),
Atlantic Highlands Fire Marshal’s Office & Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, and Hackensack Meridian Health EMS.
