🚨 Illegal Dumping 🚨

The following chest freezer and its content’s were dumped on Bayside Drive near the wooded area along the guardrail. Police are reviewing surveillance video in the area and asking residents who live on Bayside Drive that may have surveillance video to do the same. We are asking the public that if they observed any vehicles transporting this chest freezer onto Bayside Drive recently to contact AHPD at 732-291-1212.

We would also like to remind the public that most township recycling centers accept bulk items such as chest freezers and refrigerators to be disposed of properly at their facility. Let’s all do our part to keep our Borough and environment clean!

As per the Monmouth County Park System…the Henry Hudson Trail and Popomora Point Park will be closed today 9/28 to assess storm damage. Please avoid the area.

UPDATE: This section of the trail has reopened.

Please Note: As of Monday, September 28, the Henry Hudson Trail is closed between Popamora Point, Atlantic Highlands, and the Atlantic Highlands Marina for storm damage assessment and repairs.

🚨 ROAD CLOSURES🚨

The Atlantic Highlands Police Department is advising residents of the following road closures due to downed trees and wires:

🚧 Ocean Boulevard is CLOSED between Lower Prospect Road and Lawrie Road due to a tree down on wires.

🚧 East Highland Avenue is CLOSED between Ocean Boulevard and Sears Landing due to a downed tree.

➡️ Local traffic only is permitted into these affected areas. Please avoid the closures whenever possible and use alternate routes.

⚠️ DOWNED WIRES: Please do not approach or touch any downed wires. Treat all downed wires as energized and dangerous.

Good Morning AH, we are currently at the top of high tide and are experiencing flooding in the predicted areas.

Center Avenue, Bay Avenue, South Avenue and West Highland Avenue are all flooded at the creeks near West Avenue.

Monmouth County is currently under a State of Emergency. Please stay home and safe.

AHPD is preparing for the large nor'easter just off the coast of New Jersey. The current maps are showing the storm trending closer to the jersey shore than originally anticipated. As of now, 3"-5" of rain is possible with heavy winds over the course of the next 2-3 days.

A major area of concern is the possibility/probability of tidal flooding. North East winds have pushed water to the back bays over the past two days and it continues to build. The High Tides are of most concern due to the high winds and 98% full moon which creates higher tides. The High Tides are as follows:

9/25 @ 7:30 PM - High Tide
9/26 @ 7:51 AM - High Tide
9/26 @ 8:08 PM - High Tide
9/27 @ 8:27 AM - High Tide

Please see the attached map as it shows the Borough's usual problem areas for flooding. If you live in or around the red highlighted problem areas or park your vehicles in that area, please be prepared for flooding. Do not drive through flooded roadways.
