This week, we had the honor of welcoming representatives from the Māori people of New Zealand to our community. Over two days, our Tribal Council leaders and guests engaged in meaningful conversation about sovereignty, self-governance, and the strategies that have shaped our Tribe’s growth and impact on our lands.

Exchanges like this remind us that the pursuit of self-determination is a shared journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect, share, and learn from one another, and we look forward to seeing the impact of this visit for both of our communities.

There is a new exhibit at the Poarch Creek Indians Museum & Welcome Center, and it is worth a visit! "Illustrating the Native Southeast: Art, Culture, and Traditions" takes visitors behind the pages of two landmark books that documented the daily life, customs, and craftsmanship of Southeastern Native tribes.

For us, the art, textiles, and histories captured in these works are not relics of the past. They are part of living traditions, carried forward through community, teaching, and memory. This exhibit is a chance to experience that continuity firsthand.

The exhibit is on display through November 2026 and admission is free.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Council Elections.

Stephanie Bryan continues her service as Tribal Chair and CEO, Arthur Mothershed returns as At-Large Tribal Councilman, and Dewitt Carter joins the Tribal Council as our newest At-Large Councilman.

Mvto to all the Tribal Citizens who voted in this year’s election. We look forward to the leadership and dedication these Council Members will bring in the years ahead.

If you have been on the reservation lately, you may have already spotted it. The new 50-foot mural on Building 100 along Jack Springs Road is impossible to miss, and the story it tells is one worth stopping to take in.

Created by Auburn University Professor Wendy DesChene and her students, the mural is a sweeping, colorful timeline of who we are as Creek people. From fish trap baskets and longleaf pine needle baskets to stickball scenes and stomp dancing, from ancestral portraits to local moments of courage, every detail was chosen with intention.

Mvto to Professor DesChene, her students, and our Tribal Historic Preservation Officer Billy Bailey for bringing this vision to life. Next time you are on the reservation, take a moment to stop and experience it up close.
