E Court Street will be closed due to flooding at the underpass please avoid this area for next couple of hours!

Dementia Friendly First Responder Training
May 11, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Kiamichi Technology Center in Atoka.
This free training is designed for paid and volunteer first responders who regularly interact with individuals living with dementia. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of dementia, learn effective communication strategies, and build skills to safely and confidently respond in real-life situations.
The training includes classroom instruction, hands-on simulations, and scenario-based learning to better prepare responders to provide compassionate and informed care.

This morning, volunteer firefighters from Atoka County—including Atoka, Harmony, Caney, Crystal, and Lane Fire Departments—conducted live fire training in Antlers as the final step in their Structural Firefighter training class.

We would like to thank the Antlers Fire Department for the use of their burn tower, as well as OSU Fire Service Training for providing excellent instruction throughout the course.

Nine firefighters from Atoka County successfully completed the training, gaining essential firefighting skills to better serve and protect our community.

We’re proud of their hard work and dedication to keeping Atoka County safe.

On Saturday night, the Atoka Fire Department, along with Tushka and Harmony Fire Departments, responded to a residential structure fire at 2820 S. Gin Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from the residence. The occupants had safely evacuated prior to our arrival, while family members were using a garden hose in an attempt to keep the fire from spreading.

Fire crews quickly worked to bring the situation under control. The front room of the home sustained heavy fire damage, with significant heat and smoke damage affecting much of the residence.

We are proud of the teamwork and dedication shown by all departments involved. Through continued training and cooperation, we strive to provide quick and efficient service to our county residents as a 100% volunteer fire department.
