With temperatures rising this summer, it’s important to know the risks of heat-related illness and tips to staying cool. If you must go outside, dress properly and take breaks often.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If someone is experiencing symptoms, call 911 right away, move them to a cooler place and help lower their body temperature with cool cloths or a cool bath. Do not give them anything to drink.

During a disease outbreak, epidemiologists collect and analyze information about who is sick, when they became sick, and exposures they may have had before becoming sick to determine where, when, and how each person may have become infected.

Then, they translate this information into recommendations for prevention and control measures. The primary function of the infectious disease epidemiology team is to cover investigations and surveillance across Oklahoma for reportable diseases.

For more information on the field of epidemiology visit https://brnw.ch/21x2YIX.

Most kids with lead exposure look completely healthy. That’s why testing matters. A simple blood test at ages 1 and 2 can check for lead poisoning.

We share a lot with our mom friends. Add lead poisoning prevention to the chat because some parenting tips are too important not to share.
