We’re not saying firefighters know everything… but apparently we know enough to keep teaching the police department a few things. 😉 Officers practiced lifesaving skills to quickly control severe bleeding and provide critical care when every second counts.

All jokes aside, we’re proud of the relationship between our departments and the opportunity to train together so we’re better prepared when our community needs us.

APD did pretty well, too. Gold stars all around. ⭐😂

Apparently, the first day of school pictures don’t stop when you become a firefighter. 😂📚🚒

Firefighters Colton White, Clayton Dancey and Cody Otasowie are officially back in the classroom as they begin training to earn their Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) licenses!

They may have traded backpacks and lunchboxes for uniforms and medical textbooks, but we couldn’t pass up the chance for a classic first-day-of-school photo. We’re pretty sure their moms would be proud.

Good luck, guys! Study hard, make good choices, and don’t forget to get your first-day paperwork signed. ✏️🍎

Some people leave behind songs.
Some leave behind a legacy.
Dolly left behind a little bit of herself in all of us.
A Tennessee original. A storyteller. A dreamer who never forgot where she came from.
The world feels a little less sparkly now.
Rest easy, Dolly. 🤍

Today, flags will be lowered statewide in memory of Dolly Parton, Tennessee’s favorite daughter.

A special thank-you to our 4,000th Facebook follower and 100th Instagram follower! 🎉

We loved welcoming our milestone winners to the fire station, showing them around and presenting each of them with a basket full of AFD goodies. Thank you both, and everyone who follows along, for supporting AFD and making these milestones possible! ❤️🔥

AFD was proud to raise the American flag over Rock the Block this weekend. It’s something our department has the honor of doing at many Town and community events throughout the year, and each time, it means just as much.

For us, raising the flag is more than just part of setting up for an event. It represents service, community and pride in the place we call home.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to see the Stars and Stripes flying high over Atoka and the community we’re proud to serve.🇺🇸

The flag is up and the sun is out! Rock the Block is going! 🇺🇸
