Starting tomorrow Tuesday June 2nd.

ODOT has advised that on June 2nd, 3rd and possibly the 4th, they will be working on Hwy 69/75 between Atoka and Tushka. The Hwy will be closed down to one lane both ways. So expect traffic delays and drive slower through work zones.

Storm Debris Cleanup Update

Atoka County has completed its storm debris pickup operations and will no longer be collecting debris from county rights-of-way.

If you still have debris from the May storms, please make arrangements to dispose of it.

Safe and sound. 💙

Earlier today, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers assisted in locating and apprehending a non-custodial kidnapping suspect connected to an incident originating in Smith County, Texas. After receiving information from the Texas U.S. Marshals that the suspect was believed to be in the Bryan County area, OHP Troopers and several local law enforcement agencies began canvassing the area to locate the vehicle.

During the operation, an Atoka County Deputy initiated a felony traffic stop near US-69 and W. 13th Street in Atoka County. The suspect was safely taken into custody by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers without incident and transported to the Atoka County Jail for processing and further investigation.

Most importantly, the young girl involved was found safe. Troopers and dispatchers cared for her until family members could arrive and safely reunite with her.

We’re grateful for the teamwork and coordination between all agencies involved that helped bring this case to a safe resolution.
