💙 April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

Every child deserves to grow up safe, supported, and protected. The Attalla Police Department is proud to stand alongside our community in bringing awareness to child abuse prevention and reminding everyone that we all play a role.

This month, we also highlight the important work of the James M. Barrie Center for Children. Their team works tirelessly to support children and families during some of their most difficult times. You can learn more about their mission or how to get involved at barriecenter.org.

A simple action—checking in, speaking up, or reporting concerns—can make a life-changing difference.

Let’s stand together for our children. 💙
Because protecting them is everyone’s responsibility.

A strong case built through teamwork and persistence has led to a guilty plea in the 2025 Marathon gas station robbery in Attalla.

We appreciate the work of our officers, investigators, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit, Oxford Police Department and our federal partners in holding this offender accountable and keeping our community safe.

🚨Congratulations to SRO Officer Eric Roebuck!🚨

SRO Officer Eric Roebuck has officially completed the 40-Hour Basic School Resource Officer Course through the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), and that’s no small accomplishment!

This nationally recognized training sharpens the skills needed to protect, mentor, and lead inside our schools… and SRO Officer Roebuck is bringing that knowledge straight back to our students and staff at Attalla City Schools. 📚👮‍♂️

From the hallways to the classrooms, his dedication to going the extra mile doesn’t go unnoticed. He’s not just keeping our schools safe, he’s building relationships and making a difference every single day.

👏 We’re proud to have you on the team, SRO Officer Roebuck! Keep up the great work!

It’s National Cleaning Week… and yes, we’re participating too 🧼🚔

While everyone else is busy spring cleaning at home, our officers are out doing their version of “cleaning the streets” and keeping things in order across our city.

Different tools, same goal: a cleaner, safer community.

We’ll take care of the streets… you take care of the laundry 😉

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 20, 2026
Chief of Police Doug Jordan

At approximately 5:00 PM on March 19, 2026, officers with the Attalla Police Department responded to the 500 block of Hale Street regarding a reported home invasion.

Upon arrival, officers determined the rear door of the residence had been forcibly breached. The victim reported being threatened with a knife. The suspect was identified as the victim’s son, Robert Jary Phillips Jr.

At approximately 9:00 PM, officers located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the arrest and ongoing investigation, the suspect became combative and actively resisted officers. While officers were attempting to gain control, one officer sustained a broken leg. The suspect was subsequently restrained and taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and later booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on the following charges:

Domestic Violence, First Degree

Resisting Arrest

Assault, Second Degree

The injured officer received medical treatment and has since been released. He is currently recovering at home.

We ask that you keep the officer and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrests are public information. An arrest does not constitute guilt. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Special thanks to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit 🚁 for assisting us in ensuring the Attalla Police Department Firing Range is a safe and viable landing zone for emergency situations. Their team took the time to come out and evaluate the area, helping us better prepare for when it matters most.

We’re grateful for the strong working relationship and continued partnership.

The Attalla Police Department would like to congratulate Lieutenant Wes Legendre on his new role as Technology Director for Attalla City Schools.

While we’ll miss him full-time, we’re proud of the impact he’s made here and excited for what he’ll do next.

Fortunately for us, he’s not going far, Lt. Legendre will still be serving part-time, because apparently we’re not that easy to get rid of… and neither is he. 😅

Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved opportunity. ⭐️

We are excited to welcome Wes Legendre as our new Technology Director! With a passion for supporting students, empowering teachers, and strengthening digital learning, Wes will play an important role in helping our district move forward.
