A HUGE thank you to the Attica Rodeo & Show Association for their incredible generosity and support of the Attica Police Department!

The Association recently donated six G***k pistols to our department. This donation will make a meaningful difference for our officers and our agency.

Currently, our officers use their own personally owned pistols while on duty. Thanks to this generous donation, these department-owned pistols will be issued first to our full-time officers. Our goal is to continue building on this effort, with plans to purchase additional department-owned pistols over the next year so that our part-time officers can also be equipped with department-issued fi****ms.

We are extremely grateful to the Attica Rodeo & Show Association for investing in the safety and equipment of the men and women who serve our community. Partnerships and support like this truly make a difference.

📢 Solicitor in the Village of Attica

The Attica Police Department would like to make residents aware that Jake "The Education Man” has obtained a solicitor’s permit and will be going door-to-door in the Village of Attica beginning today through Saturday.

Jake is a product representative with Southwestern Advantage and is selling educational books designed to help children develop academic skills and success principles. He will be driving the silver Toyota shown in the attached photo.

As always, residents are encouraged to use their own discretion when answering the door and interacting with solicitors. If you have any questions or concerns regarding a solicitor’s permit, please contact the Attica Village Office.

🚨 Village Updates

Unfortunately, the new bathrooms at the park have been damaged with graffiti on multiple occasions. If you “see something, say something.” Please report any suspicious activity to the Police Department at 585-591-0881.

On a positive note, Rodeo Weekend went very well! Thank you to everyone who helped make it a successful and enjoyable weekend.

We have welcomed one new part-time Police Officer to the department.

Our newer patrol car is now in service and out on patrol.

The Attica Wine & Spirits burglary suspect has been arrested.

The dirt bike incident resulted in multiple VTL violations being charged.

Multiple groups of solicitors have been removed from the Village after being advised that permits are required. We will do our best to keep the community informed when solicitors are properly permitted and approved. We currently have one permitted solicitor expected to come to the Village shortly.

**Rodeo Weekend 2026 is officially in the books! 🤠**

We want to take a moment to thank our amazing community for bearing with us throughout the weekend, especially with the extra traffic and activity around town. Your patience and understanding are truly appreciated!

A huge thank-you also goes out to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office for providing us with a golf cart to use throughout the event. We would also like to thank the Attica Water Treatment Facility for providing us with a vehicle and a side-by-side (SxS) to use during the weekend. Having these additional resources available was a tremendous help and allowed us to keep things moving and respond to whatever came our way. We truly appreciate your support and assistance!

A special thank-you to the Attica Volunteer Fire Department & Bennington Volunteer Fire Company for parking vehicles in the park and doing their best to take care of the grounds during the rainstorms we experienced throughout the weekend.

We'd also like to thank Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services and Genesee County Office of Emergency Management for providing the light towers that helped keep the park safe and well-lit throughout the weekend.

A special shoutout goes to our Village of Attica DPW crew, who will have their work cut out for them repairing the damage caused by the weather and getting the park looking amazing again. We appreciate all the hard work you do for our community!

And of course, a big thank-you to John & Mary's Attica for providing food throughout the weekend. Everything was amazing, and we truly appreciate your support!

There are a lot of moving parts and a lot of people working behind the scenes to make a weekend like this happen. Without the assistance and support from all of these departments, agencies, businesses, and community members, it would have been a real struggle to make the weekend go as smoothly as it did.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who stepped up and helped make Rodeo Weekend a success.

Help Us Identify This Suspect

The Village of Attica Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the operator of a blue dirt bike who was driving recklessly through the village. During this incident, the rider nearly struck multiple civilians and allegedly attempted to strike a police officer who was attempting to stop them.

This type of behavior is dangerous, unacceptable, and puts the entire community at risk. If you recognize this individual or have information that could assist in this investigation, please contact the Attica Police Department or send us a private message.

We want the public to know that we support responsible recreational vehicle use. In fact, the Attica Police Department has been working to explore a permit process that would allow UTVs and golf carts to be operated legally within the village. Our goal is to provide a safe, lawful way for responsible owners to enjoy their vehicles.

For that to happen, we need the community's help. Those who choose to ride recklessly, endanger innocent people, or flee from law enforcement cannot be allowed to jeopardize opportunities for everyone else. The only way we can move forward with a successful permit program is by holding reckless operators accountable while supporting the many law-abiding riders who simply want to enjoy their vehicles responsibly.

Responsible riders should not lose the opportunity to legally operate because of the actions of a few. By identifying and holding these offenders accountable, we can continue working toward a program that benefits responsible residents while keeping our streets safe for everyone.

UPDATE: Arrest Made

Earlier this morning, Nathaniel Salverson was taken into custody and charged in connection with this investigation.

Following his arrest, Salverson was arraigned in Attica Village Court and was subsequently released on his own recognizance, pending future court proceedings.

We appreciate the public's cooperation and support throughout this investigation.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚨BURGLARY INVESTIGATION UPDATE🚨

The Attica Police Department has identified a suspect in connection with the recent burglary at Attica Wine & Spirits.

Nathaniel Salverson is wanted in connection with this investigation and is facing charges of:

• Burglary
• Petit Larceny
• Criminal Mischief

An arrest has not yet been made.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Nathaniel or has additional information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Attica Police Department.

Please do not approach or confront the individual.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

You may notice a different patrol car out and about in the community! We're excited to put our new (used) patrol vehicle into service, featuring a fresh new graphics design that gives it a clean, modern look while proudly representing our department.

This vehicle is another step in helping us serve our community efficiently and professionally, while making the most of our resources.

A special thank you to the Attica Village Water Treatment Plant for removing the equipment from the old police vehicle, and to the Village DPW for installing it in the new patrol car. ✅ The Police Department has been awarded a $20,465 grant to purchase a LiveScan Fingerprinting System. This new technology will improve the efficiency and accuracy of the fingerprinting process, enhancing our ability to serve the community and support law enforcement operations.

👮‍♂️👮‍♀️ We are pleased to announce that two of our part-time officers have transitioned into full-time positions. This investment in our personnel strengthens the department, increases our staffing levels, and enhances our ability to provide quality police services to the community.

These statistics and accomplishments reflect the wide variety of responsibilities our officers handle each month—from proactive traffic enforcement and criminal investigations to assisting our emergency service partners, participating in community events, and continuing to improve the services we provide.

🇺🇸Happy 4th of July from the Attica Police Department! 🇺🇸

If tonight sounds like the Decepticons decided to move into the village and start a war in your backyard… don’t worry, it’s just Independence Day in Attica.

Unless fireworks are causing a fire, creating an immediate safety hazard, damaging property, or someone is injured, please refrain from calling the Police Department. Help us keep our officers available for true emergencies.

We’re all for celebrating the 4th — just please remember: not everyone gets the weekend off, not every dog enjoys surprise fireworks at 11:30 p.m., and not every neighbor wants to relive Gettysburg from their backyard.

That said, if we do receive a complaint and an officer asks you to wrap it up or tone it down, please do so. We really don’t want to come back a second time… and trust us, neither do you.

We know everyone’s excited, but if you could hold off on turning the village into a reenactment of 1776 for a couple more days, we’d appreciate it.

Around here, every boom results in:

* Two Facebook posts asking, “Did anyone else hear that?”
* One guy convinced it was definitely a transformer.

Let’s save the fireworks for the Fourth so everyone—including your neighbors, their dogs, and the officers—can enjoy the celebration.
