Attica Volunteer Fire Department

Attica Volunteer Fire Department The Attica Volunteer Fire Department is made up of men and women who volunteer their time to protect

We are a band of brothers and sisters who train tirelessly and work to protect the citizens of our community. At a minimum each member is required to complete several state mandated training courses to be able to become a firefighter for the department. We also have to complete several requirements to remain in good standing with the department. This includes making at least 20% of all fire runs t

hroughout the year, obtaining 25 hours of continuing educations/training, and participate in 30 hours or work detail helping out cleaning the station and trucks, ensuring the equipment is in good working order. We also have to organize our own fundraisers to get items needed during a major fire event. These items include cases of bottled water, fruits and nutritious snacks to help replenish firefighters during long and stressful fire scenes. We also write grants to try and obtain the necessary protective gear that we need to protect the firefighters who risk lives in any type emergency.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of rain, the City of Attica has cancelled the fireworks on June 30. The county is currently still under a burn ban which prohibits the use of fireworks. A reschedule date is in the works and will be relayed to the public once safe to do the show. For more information or questions regarding the burn ban, you may contact your local Fire Department or county officials.
