June is officially Audiobook Appreciation Month, and we've got new adult fiction Playaways for you to celebrate!

Playaways are an accessible audiobook option that only requires headphones or an auxiliary cord with a universal jack (no Wifi necessary). You can start or stop your audiobook with the push of one button. Playaways are ultra-portable, require no screen time, are great for traveling, and perfect for anyone who appreciates a good audiobook. The collection has been relocated to the Large Print room.

Save the Date! Summer Reading will begin on Tuesday, 6/30 with our Summer Reading Kickoff party. Make sure to join us in the Balfour Riverwalk Park from 10-11:30am that day to celebrate the end of the school year, and the beginning of our summer reading program. We are taking a moment to celebrate all the amazing people who work at Attleboro Public Library, and today's is Heidi! Heidi is the Technical Services Supervisor here at APL, and is our longest tenured employee, having started part-time at the South Attleboro Branch Library back in 1994. Not only is she responsible for all the cataloging that needs to be done, she also purchases the DVDs and Blu-ray. You can find Heidi on almost any floor of the library, working at the Circ desk, the 3rd floor desk, or in the Children's Room.

We have a bittersweet for you today. Prolific Children's, YA and Sci-Fi/Fantasy author Jane Yolen has passed away. We've created a pop-up display with some of her books - she wrote more than 450 titles! Teen/Tween Librarian Meghan especially recommends Yolen's The Mary Celeste: An Unsolved Mystery from History as a title that has appeal for readers of all ages.

The Attleboro Public Library Kindness Club for 5th-12th graders, which is a collaboration between APL and the Olivia Knighton Foundation needs your help! During the October meeting, the Kindness Club will be putting together "Busy Bags" for library patrons who will be most affected during the APL's closure in December for carpet replacement. These Busy Bags will include a list of alternative locations for patrons looking for warmth to visit, as well as some items for entertainment and comfort. If you'd like to help support this effort please check out the Amazon Wish List, compiled by the OKF! All donations are greatly appreciated! The Olivia Knighton Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization (tax ID: 93-4148846).
