As temperatures begin to rise, please remember that everyone responds to heat differently. Be aware of those who may be at greater risk for heat-related illnesses, including older adults, young children, individuals with chronic health conditions, and those who work or spend extended periods outdoors.

To stay safe during hot weather:
• Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
• Drink plenty of water, even if you do not feel thirsty.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing when outdoors.
• Seek air-conditioned or adequately cooled locations whenever possible.

To help residents stay cool, Merced County has activated Cooling Zones that are available to all county residents. Complimentary transportation to and from Cooling Zones is also available through THE BUS.
