Things have shifted slightly south! Let's all stay weather aware! Atwood Fire Protection Dist. and Atwood Police Department will be monitoring storms as they approach. 💦💨⚡🌪️

11:36a - The Moderate Risk has been pulled slightly south some and essentially is for our entire area.

General consensus among our team is I-72 and points to the south could stand the beat chance for tornadoes this afternoon, thanks to the morning round being less severe and more of a rainy mess locally.

However, ALL areas of our WCIA viewing area should remain vigilant due to thez threat this afternoon/evening.

There are no changes structurally to our forecast with round 2, rather now we begin to look at the fine and minuscule details

🚧🚨🚗🚒 Vehicle Stabilization and Extrication Training 🚒🚗🚨🚧

Atwood Fire Protection Dist. members trained on vehicle stabilization this past week! Our newer members had the chance to learn how to safely operate and position our Res-Q-Jacks on an unstable vehicle. During an extrication it is very important that the vehicle is stable and safe for our members to work around! We are Thankful for the great group of members we have and the countless hours they continually put into training!🧑‍🚒💥

Atwood Fire Protection Dist. responded to this incident with Engine 62, Tanker 68 and ten members from our department. Our members assisted with overhaul operations on the structure! It was a privilege working with Bethany Fire Protection District and all their mutual aid fire departments! 🚒🔥🧑‍🚒

🚙🚗🛻 Vehicle Extrication Training 🛻🚗🚙

Members of Atwood Fire Protection Dist. had the privilege to attend a vehicle extrication training hosted by Mt. Zion Fire Protection District! Thankyou Mt. Zion Fire for hosting! Our members where given the opportunity to sharpen their skills on vehicle stabilization and extrication! Our members enjoyed training with the following departments. Mt. Zion Fire Department, Long Creek Fire Department, Maroa Fire Department, Niantic Fire Protection District, South Macon Fire Department, and Argenta-Oreana Fire Department.

🔥💦 Hose Advancement Training💦🔥

Atwood Fire Protection Dist. trained on hose line advancement at our last monthly training! Our members trained on advancing a charged hose line through a structure in tight quarters and around different objects that potentially could make hose advancement difficult! Members also incorporated forcible entry training while stretching the hose line. Our members are continually training to be more efficient and also learning how to be more effective with the different hose lines and nozzles used in the fire service!🚒🔥

Atwood Fire Protection Dist. hosted a training on grain bin rescue incidents! ⚠️🚒🧑‍🚒🚨

We would like to give a Big Thanks to Taylorville Fire Department for sending a member of their department to help train and educate our members how to better prepare for an incident of this nature! Taylorville fire has responded to multiple grain bin rescue incidents so their knowledge and experience was very valuable to our members!

Many of you may not know, but AFPD and Arthur Fire and Ambulance have formed a grain bin rescue team with fully trained members! While we are separate departments and each have all of our own rescue equipment, we feel it is imperative that we work together as a team! These incidents can require a lot of specialty rescue equipment as well as lots of manpower to make a rescue successful! Our goal is to keep our team members fully trained and ready to respond in case of a grain bin emergency! This is one of the many things we train on, but we hope to never have to utilize!
