🔥 Wildland Fire Season Has Started 🔥
Sorry this isn’t April Fools, grass is drying out earlier than last year.
We are ready if fires come, but we would be much happier if we didn’t have to go to any.
With fire season now here, please do your part:
✅ Trim dry weeds and grass around your home
✅ Create and maintain defensible space
✅ Be extremely careful with any outdoor burning, equipment, or sparks
A small act of caution today can prevent a big fire tomorrow.
If you are still working on your defensible space, use caution and have water and a shovel handy. Time is running out to get your property ready.
Let’s all work together to protect our homes, land, and neighbors this season.
Stay safe, stay vigilant, and here’s hoping for a quiet year ahead.

🔥 Wildland Fire Season Has Started 🔥
While we hope for a quiet season, we never leave it to chance.
Our crews have been working hard this spring preparing for wildland fire season with rigorous training, equipment checks, brush clearing, and sharpening our response tactics so we’re ready the moment the call comes in.
Fire doesn’t wait, and neither do we.
Thank you to our dedicated firefighters who put in the long hours to keep our community safe.

If you are still working on your defensible space, use caution and have water and a shovel handy. Time is running out to get your property ready.

🔥 Wildland Fire Season Has Started 🔥
Just today, multiple fires ignited near Pincushion Peak (close to Millerton Lake / Pincushion Peak Trail). Multiple separate fires are receiving containment efforts.
This is a sobering reminder that the dry conditions and winds are already creating dangerous fire weather.
If you are still working on your defensible space, use caution and have water and a shovel handy. Time is running out to get your property ready.

Winding roads + recent accidents = time for caution!

We’ve had multiple crashes in the foothills these past weeks.

Your Auberry Volunteer Fire Department is asking everyone:
• Reduce speed on curves
• No passing on double yellow
• Zero tolerance for distracted or impaired driving

Drive like your loved ones are on the road too. ❤️

Tag a friend who needs this reminder!

The recent storms have brought beautiful waterfalls—but they’ve also created hazardous conditions in our foothill and mountain areas. Saturated soil and loose rock increase the risk of rock slides and debris on roadways, sometimes with little warning.

Please use extra caution when driving:
Slow down, especially on curves and shaded areas
Watch for rocks, mud, and debris in the roadway
Be alert after heavy rain or overnight storms

Your awareness helps keep everyone safe. Enjoy the views—but get where you’re going safely.

Training to Save Our Own

This week, our volunteers trained on downed firefighter rescue. These drills prepare us for the moments that matter most, when a fellow firefighter needs help fast and teamwork makes all the difference.

The photo captures our “hot wash,” a post-training debrief where we discuss what went well and what we can learn. We do this after every training and every call. It’s how we get better, safer, and stronger. Always learning.

Volunteering isn’t just about fighting fires. It’s about training together, supporting your neighbors, and being ready when your community needs you.

⏰ Time Change Means It’s Darker, Earlier — and Harder to See Us! 🚒

Your Auberry Volunteer Firefighters recently trained on highway traffic control — the stuff that keeps accident scenes safe for victims, responders, and drivers, too.

Here’s how you can help us go home safe:
⚠️ Slow down and stay alert when you see emergency lights.
🚧 Follow the firefighter's directions — if we stop you, there is a reason.
👀 No phones, no distractions — we’ve got enough going on out there!
💡 Turn on your headlights early — if you can see us, we can see you.

The days are shorter, but your awareness makes a big difference. ❤️

⏰ It’s Time to “Fall Back” — and Check Your Alarms! 🔋🚒

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour this Sunday! While you’re at it, it’s the perfect time to:
✅ Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
✅ Test each alarm to make sure it’s working
✅ Check expiration dates on detectors — most only last 10 years

A few minutes now can make a life-saving difference later. ❤️

Stay safe, Auberry!

🎃 Trunk or Treat Fun in Prather! 🚒

Big thanks to everyone who came out last night for Trunk or Treat! We loved seeing all the creative costumes and smiling faces. 👻

Special shoutout to CalFire/Fresno County Fire Engine 74 and our very own Water Tender 264 for showing up in style — the kids (and adults!) loved checking out the rigs. 🙌

Events like this remind us how great our community is. ❤️
Stay safe and we’ll see you next year!
