🚌 School buses are back on the roads!

As we kick off the new school year, please help us keep our students safe by slowing down, staying alert, and following all school bus flashing-light signals.

Remember, school buses are like traffic signals:

🟡 Flashing yellow lights: Prepare to stop.
🔴 Flashing red lights: Stop! No passing.
⚠️ Hazard lights: Proceed with caution.

When red lights are flashing, stop at least 20 feet from the bus and remain stopped until the bus resumes motion or the lights are no longer flashing.

🎭⏳💀Avondale Theatre Company took center stage in Scotland at Edinburgh Festival Fringe!

This summer, the Avondale Theatre Company (ATC) traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland, for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, marking the fifth time ATC has been selected to perform at the world-renowned festival.

Performing Terry Pratchett’s Mort at Central Hall, ATC sold 480 of 500 tickets, including two sold-out performances—more tickets than any other high school participating in the festival! The company also earned two festival awards, while ATC’s technical crew received a special recognition award from Live Arts Production, one of only three schools honored and the only public high school to receive the award.

Between performances, students explored Scotland and England, from Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish Highlands to London, Harry Potter Studios, the London Eye and more.

What an incredible experience for our students and another remarkable accomplishment for ATC! We’re so proud of the talent, hard work, and dedication they brought to the international stage. 💛

✨Avondale Student Spotlight✨

Avondale School District is proud to celebrate Avondale GATE Magnet School seventh-grade student Adhrit Mishra, who has been named the 2026 Michigan State Merit Winner in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge for his innovative project, CocoScrub!

Adhrit developed CocoScrub as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional, non-biodegradable dishwashing sponges. His design uses coconut husk, a cornstarch binder, and 3D-printed molds to create a reusable scrubber intended to reduce waste and help address concerns surrounding microplastic pollution.

Congratulations to Adhrit on this outstanding accomplishment and for demonstrating how innovative thinking can turn an everyday problem into a solution with the potential to make a positive environmental impact!

🎒🥫 Free Weekend Meals for Avondale Students!

We’re proud to once again partner with Blessings in a Backpack to provide free weekend meals to Avondale students who may benefit from additional food support.

Each Friday, participating students receive a bag of kid-friendly meals and snacks to take home for the weekend. Items may include macaroni and cheese cups, granola bars, fruit cups, crackers and other easy-to-prepare foods. There is no cost to families, and food is distributed discreetly and with care.
