Milford Firefighters voluntarily did the Oakland Physical Agility Test (OPAT) yesterday. This test is used throughout the county and state to test new hire and probationary candidates to make sure they are strong and fit enough to withstand the demands of the job. Milford’s senior firefighters did it yesterday to show solidarity with the next generation of firefighters, as well as to prove our commitment to the citizens of Milford that fitness isn’t just a one time test at the beginning of our careers, but an ongoing lifestyle to continue to do our jobs to the best of our abilities. Thanks to The Forge Functional Fitness & Health for helping us to stay in our best physical form and to Oakland Community College Fire/EMS Training for facilitating our tests.

The Milford Fire Department has been busy training these last few months, both in house and externally. We’ve been all over the state with trainings including Fire Instructor I, Officer I, Staff and Command, Rope Rescue Operations, Structural Collapse Operations, and training with the SE Michigan Dive Team. Members of MFD also traveled up to Camp Grayling with Michigan Task Force 1 for an Operational Readiness Exercise. We love what we do and are always striving to better our craft to serve our community to the best of our abilities. We appreciate all of the support and are looking forward to a fun Michigan summer!

We honor our veterans this Memorial Day and all of their brothers and sisters that have been lost to the cost of our freedom. Thank you to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for us; may we all strive to be Americans worth fighting for.

Some of our off duty members completed this morning in honor of thanks to our friends at The Forge Functional Fitness & Health! This weekend is a time to honor our members from the military and mourn their fallen brothers and sisters who may have been lost but will never be forgotten!
