Our thoughts and prayers are with the La Porte County Sheriff's Office and family and friends of the deputy who was shot early this morning at Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City. The deputy is in critical condition.

The suspect is in custody.

The Auburn Police Department joins law-enforcement, all across the country in recognizing national police week May 10th–16, 2026. This week honors officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
