August is Overdose Awareness Month. 💜

Today, we remember those lost to overdose, stand beside those in recovery, and support the families and communities carrying the weight of addiction.

Overdose can affect anyone. There is no shame in asking for help, and recovery is possible. Let’s replace stigma with compassion, judgment with understanding, and silence with support.

Remember. Educate. Support. Save a life.

This morning, we recognized Sergeant Jeff Arnett for 10 years of service with the Auburn Police Department

Sergeant Arnett has served in law enforcement for 17 years, the past 10 years with the APD. He is also an Army veteran who has dedicated his life to serving others and protecting our community and country.

We are incredibly grateful for Sergeant Arnett’s service, leadership, dedication, and the many skills and experiences he brings to the Auburn Police Department.

🔒 IMPORTANT REMINDER FROM YOUR FRIENDLY LOCAL AUBURN PD! 🚔

Lock your vehicles at night! Seriously. We know… we all want to believe in a world where everyone is good, honorable, and respects other people’s stuff. Unfortunately, there are some folks out there who apparently see your vehicle as a late-night shopping opportunity.

We’ve received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in a general area of town recently. While locking your vehicle won’t stop someone who is determined to get inside, it may encourage the less-determined variety of bad guys to simply move along.

And yes, we know… sometimes you forget. It happens! You get home, unload the kids, grab the groceries, let the dog out, answer three texts, and suddenly you’re in bed wondering, “Did I lock the car?” 😴

If you notice something seems off—like some of that change you had in your console mysteriously disappeared—give us a call. Because apparently, bad guys like change. 🪙

OH! And one more very important thing:
Before you lock that vehicle, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR KEYS IN YOUR HAND! 🔑

That’s a whole other issue, and we don’t want you breaking into your own vehicle either! 😂

To our local aspiring burglars… be good! Is the change really worth it?

We’re here for you too! There are plenty of employment opportunities out there, and honestly, it feels a whole lot better to earn your own change.

We want to see you succeed—not see you get arrested for theft. So, make good choices, find a job or a hobby, and keep your hands out of other people’s vehicles. We’re rooting for you! 😉🚔

OH, and don’t worry—we won’t necessarily chase after people over a little change… but our four-legged partners absolutely LOVE that part of the job! 🐕🚔 MAKE GOOD CHOICES!
