Effective immediately the Governor has issued an Executive Order that bans the issuance of Open Burn Permits for 14 days. The Executive Order prohibits any fire chief or person designated by the fire chief from granting an open burn permit for any purpose. Any existing burn permit that has not been completed is null and void and open burning is not permitted for 14 consecutive days beginning now.

This order will be reviewed prior to its termination to determine the need to extend the ban. Further information will be provided prior to that date.

The Executive Order document will be issued later today when all required parties have signed it.

Please feel free to share this message as needed and contact me with any questions.

Thanks
Doug Hohbein

On this day, we honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 – and pay tribute to the fire fighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. We will never forget.

Last month our members performed training on vehicle extrication and victim removal. This video gives you a firsthand view of just some of the things that members of our department are trained to do. We would like to send a big thank you to those that donated the vehicles and to Beards Salvage for allowing us to use their property!

Fires will start easily and spread quickly today with dry conditions northwest winds gusting 35 to potentially 50 mph. Practice good fire weather safety today and avoid doing anything that could cause a spark.

PLEASE SHARE. The majority of Nebraska will be have Red Flag Warnings today and be in extreme fire weather conditions. We can not stress enough to refrain from burning today. Also, watch for dragging tow chains, underinflated tires, and do not park hot machinery on tall grass. These all can create a spark that can be the start of a wildfire.

Volunteer firefighter crews continue battling fires throughout the state. Let’s give ‘em a break!
