For those that don't know fireworks are allowed June 27th-July 2nd 8am-10pm and July 3rd and 4th you can go crazy until midnight. Stay safe and have fun but please be respectful of your neighbors

Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Topeka Police Department. Eddie was a great officer and more importantly a great human being. Rest easy Eddie...

The Topeka Police Department is profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Lt. Eddie Stanley after he suffered a medical emergency at his home Monday morning. Lt. Stanley served the Topeka community since joining Topeka Police on December 3, 2001.

On behalf of the entire department, Chief of Police Chris G. Vallejo extends his heartfelt condolences to Lt. Stanley’s family, friends, and colleagues.

“Lt. Stanley was a dedicated public servant whose impact on
our department and community will not be forgotten. We mourn this tremendous loss together.”

We have had some recent car break ins. Just a reminder to make sure that your doors are locked and valuables are not kept in your car. It appears at this time they are only targeting unlocked cars. Stay safe and happy holidays!

There has been a rise in burglaries to storage units over the past week. Unfortunately, Auburn has not been immune to this. if you have valuables in your storage unit please be sure to check on them. We are doing what we can to try and prevent this with the help of the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office. Also, remember, if you see something, say something. APD or SNSO will not be upset if you call to report suspicious activity, and it turns out to be nothing. We would rather you be safe than sorry. Also some additional tips to prevent burglaries to vehicles and homes:
1. Make sure vehicles and houses are locked up when not being used
2. If you have security lighting, make sure that they work properly
3. Make sure that valuable items are removed from your vehicle at night
If anyone has any information on the burglaries that are occurring please reach out to APD or SNSO. Thanks and stay safe
