🔆WM has opened the Salem Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility, a major step forward in its sustainability efforts in Alabama. The facility captures methane from the landfill and converts it into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas, which is then injected directly into natural gas pipelines. This energy helps power homes, businesses, and even a portion of WM’s fleet.

🔆In addition to supplying renewable energy to the grid, WM uses compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to collect waste and recycling. These trucks can be fueled with the RNG produced at the facility, creating a closed-loop system. By using advanced technology to turn landfill gas into a usable energy source, WM is reducing emissions while expanding renewable energy use.

🔆Look for the WM CNG trucks on campus.

We're Back!!!
Join us for Weigh the Waste Part II on Monday, April 6 and Wednesday April 8 from 6-8 PM at the Village Tiger Zone. ♻🍽️

Uneaten food from dining hall plates will be collected and weighed, showing just how much waste can be generated during a single meal period. By making food waste visible, Weigh the Waste helps raise awareness and supports data-driven strategies to reduce waste and encourage more sustainable dining habits. 🥦🍔🥗

Small choices add up and together we can take a big step toward more sustainable dining. ♻🍽️
