Our third graders had the BEST time exploring the MOST in Syracuse on Friday! 🧪🚀 From hands-on science to curious questions and big smiles, it was a day full of learning, discovery, and fun! ❤️🦁

Our 4th grade Lions spent last week working with Ms. Terry and Mr. Greg of Magpie to write and perform an original song inspired by Harriet Tubman’s Christmas Rescue. ✍️🎤🎶

After learning about Harriet’s courageous rescue of three of her brothers, our students created “When the Captain Beckons,” drawing inspiration from the secret message Harriet sent to prepare her family for their journey to freedom. 🕯️⛓️‍💥

This year marks Genesee Elementary’s 13th year participating in the Tubman Songwriting Project! Our 4th graders shared that they are incredibly thankful to Magpie, their teachers, staff, families, and community partners who continue to make this meaningful experience possible. This year’s song is dedicated to Pauline Copes-Johnson, Harriet Tubman’s great-great-grandniece and a longtime supporter of the program. 🦁❤️

Today is Mrs. Pineau’s birthday, and our staff celebrated by filling her office with every kind of “balloon” we could find... except actual birthday balloons! 🎈🎉
