The Fort Wayne Fire Department is hosting a Hazardous Materials Technician certification class at the Auburn Training Facility.

The class includes 20 firefighters from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Allen County Fire Districts, and the Auburn Fire Department. This 80-hour certification course is conducted over a two-week period and includes classroom instruction, hands-on skill competency training, and final State testing.

The photos highlight the decontamination process that would be used during a hazardous materials emergency incident.

Continuous training and hands-on experience are essential to improving skills, strengthening teamwork, and ensuring the highest level of safety for both emergency responders and the communities they serve.

Opportunities like this help firefighters stay prepared to safely and effectively respond to hazardous materials emergencies.

Mrs. Lewis’ 3rd grade classroom from J.E. Ober Elementary School in Garrett visited Auburn Fire Station 2’s Survive Alive House last week! 🚒

The Survive Alive House teaches children how to safely escape a home in the event of a fire and the importance of having a family escape plan ready. Being prepared is one of the best things you can do to help keep your family safe.

This is an important hands-on learning experience for students! Thank you Mrs. Lewis for bringing your class out!

A huge thank you to the students in the ELETE Program at Eastside High School for their hard work and dedication in creating the two new signs at the Auburn Training Facility!

We also want to recognize and thank Heidtman Steel and New Millennium for their generous material donations, along with James Coating for providing the powder coating.

We love how both projects turned out and are incredibly grateful to everyone who invested their time, energy, and talent to make this happen. Great work by all involved!

Today, May 4th, we recognize International Firefighters’ Day and honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice firefighters make to protect our communities.

Today and every day, we are incredibly grateful for the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. A special thank you to our very own Auburn Fire Department firefighters for all that you do—not only in our community, but in neighboring communities as well. Your commitment and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

International Firefighters’ Day is a time to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who have devoted their lives to protecting others. It is also an opportunity to show our appreciation and support for firefighters around the world who continue to serve with courage and selflessness.

Thank you for all that you do.
