Dear ASD Staff & Community:

The November 4 election was certified yesterday. I want to thank ASD voters for the strong support of proposition 2, the Safety, Security, Facility Improvements & Technology Replacement Levy. This 6-year levy passed with 56.85% approval and will fund critical updates to our facilities, improve safety and renew the technology levy.

Proposition 1, the bond to rebuild Cascade and Alpac and build middle school #5 did not reach the 60% supermajority, but a 54.05% majority of the community voted yes. The School Board is evaluating the bond results and has not made any decisions on next steps.

We are thankful for such a supportive community and will keep you updated on projects funded through the levy. Our website has details about the specific projects that will be addressed in the next six years with this very important funding.

Thank you to everyone who voted in this important election.

As we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, I am thankful not only for the election support but for the wonderful students, families, staff and community that make up this special district. Tomorrow, hundreds of you will help support the Auburn Public Schools Foundation at the annual Turkey Trot 5K and our community recently set a giving record for the Auburn Food Bank.

I am thankful to live in such a wonderful community. My best to you and your family this holiday weekend. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Dr. Alan Spicciati
Superintendent

Early election results on Nov. 4 show that voters said yes to the Auburn School District’s capital levy for safety, technology and maintenance, but the district’s construction bond failed to pick up enough votes to get it past the the 60% supermajority the state requires to pass bonds.

Auburn School District’s Proposition 1 will build a new Middle School #5, replace 58-year-old Cascade Middle School, and replace 53-year-old Alpac Elementary School.

If approved, the new state-of-the-art Alpac Elementary School will be built on its current site at 310 Milwaukee Boulevard North in Pacific, Washington, and is estimated to open August 2029.

This modern, energy-efficient building will serve grades Pre-K through 5, providing learning space for up to 650 students. The design will create flexible learning environments that support early childhood development, collaborative instruction, and technology-enhanced learning.

The 76,000-square-foot facility will include general education classrooms, early-learning and special-education spaces, a library/media center, gymnasium, multipurpose room, kitchen, and administrative offices. A 1,800-square-foot covered play area will support year-round outdoor activity.
