🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Bruce Jones 🌟
Higgins Fire is proud to highlight Bruce Jones, who has been serving our community as a member of the Higgins Fire District Board since 2006. Re-elected every four years, Bruce brings a lifetime of fire service experience and leadership to our district.
As a board member, Bruce has held roles as both Chair and Vice Chair, led the Strategic Planning Committee and the Policies & Procedures Committee, and worked tirelessly to ensure our budget is managed responsibly while maintaining the best possible services for our community.
Bruce’s background in fire service runs deep—starting in the early 70s as a paid call firefighter, he went on to serve with CDF/Orange County Fire and later the Hayward Fire Department, where he was promoted to Captain in 1984 before retiring in 2003. With over 200 college credits in fire-related courses, Bruce continues to dedicate his expertise to serving Higgins Fire.
One of Bruce’s proudest accomplishments is helping secure funding to reopen Station 22 in the Dog Bar area, which had been closed since 2015 due to budget constraints. In 2023, thanks to the community’s support, the station was reopened.
Outside of board service, Bruce enjoys spending time with his wife’s family, his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He keeps in touch with his firefighting friends, is active in the local SIRS organization, and recently began meeting with veterans in Lake of the Pines. In his free time, he enjoys watching ball games and traveling to Hawaii.
Bruce encourages our community to get to know the board and the work being done by visiting a local station, checking out the minutes on the Higgins Fire website, or stopping by the office with any questions.
🙏 Thank you, Bruce, for your years of service and dedication to both the fire service and the Higgins community!
