Important Security Alert: Phishing Emails
Dear Auburn Community,
We are writing to make you aware of a recent email phishing incident involving two district staff email accounts.
We want to assure you that, while email contacts were accessed, there is no indication that private or personal information was compromised during this incident. Our IT Department quickly identified the breach and has rectified the issue within our system. However, because emails already sent outside our domain are beyond our technical control, we want to ensure you are informed.
What to look for: If you receive an email from an .k12.ca.us address with the subject line or opening text "YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED" or "Re: (8) photos!", please do not open it, click any links, or download attachments. Simply delete the message immediately.
While staff have sent out legitimate emails, including one about mandated reporter training for volunteers, we understand if you do not wish to open these emails at this time. Our office will resend any pertinent emails next week.
Please rest assured that our district network remains secure and we are taking all necessary steps to prevent future occurrences. We appreciate your vigilance and partnership in keeping our community safe online.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our District Office at 530.885.7242.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
Auburn Union School District
