Placer County Resource Conservation District (RCD) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced contractors to provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the North Fork American River Shaded Fuelbreak – Phase III Project. This project consists of fuels reduction and modification on approximately 91 acres near Baxter, CA.

Proposals are due by 5:00pm September 18th, 2026. A mandatory pre-proposal field meeting will occur on-site on September 3rd and/or 4th, 2026.

Just one more week to get your chipping request in to recive ONE HOUR OF FREE CHIPPING!

All chipper requests placed through 11:59pm on August 31st will recive their first hour of chipping free. After one hour, the standard chipping service fee is $80/hour (one-hour minimum charge).

Note: ONLY SUBMIT A REQUEST IF YOUR PILES ARE READY TO CHIP. Limit of 1 free service per household during promotion period.

Reduce your fire risk with free chipping for the month of August!

The Placer County Chipper Program is offering the first hour of chipping FREE for requests placed through the end of August! Additional hours of work will be charged our standard service fee of $80/hr.

The amazing Placer County Chipper Program has been hard at work helping landowners prepare for wildfire season!

Follow the guidlelines below for a smooth service, and make a request online when you're ready to have your piles chipped!

✅ Piles are stacked neatly with the cut ends all oriented toward the access point.
🌲Trunks or branches are less than 12” in diameter and longer than 18” in length.
🥾 Piles are within 10 feet of chipper access.
📏 Piles are not taller than 6 feet.

Placer RCD staff works hard to enact best conservation practices throughout Placer County -- whether it's reforestation, fuels reduction, agriculture, or prescribed fire. We're lucky to have such a wonderful group of people to work with!

Do you love managing projects, working with wonderful people, and spending time in Placer County's beautiful forests? You may be right for our Forestry Director position! Especially if you're willing to occasionally help Ellen here flag...

Projects include landscape-scale fuel breaks, post-fire restoration and reforestation, hazard tree removal, prescribed fire, education, and outreach. The position is a full-time, exempt role, working approximately 40 hours per week. The Forestry Director reports to the Executive Director and will work closely with a broad array of partner organizations, government agencies, and public and private landowners. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Professional Forester with at least 8 years of professional experience.
