Please join us in congratulating Deputy Nicholas Crigger, this yearโ€™s Auburn Elks Lodge Public Safety Award recipient! ๐Ÿ‘

Deputy Crigger, assigned to the Strategic Response Team (SRT), is recognized for his dedication, professionalism, and proactive service to Placer County.

While serving as a patrol deputy in Auburn, he made several notable proactive arrests and recoveries, including locating a loaded firearm stolen during an out-of-state residential burglary, recovering stolen property tied to an east coast case, and stopping a quad on railroad tracks that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and an arrest.

Before joining the Placer County Sheriffโ€™s Office in 2024, Deputy Crigger served with both the Contra Costa Sheriffโ€™s Office and Vacaville Police Department, where he worked patrol, K9, and investigations. Since coming to Placer County, he has continued to go above and beyond in protecting and serving our community.

Congratulations, Deputy Crigger, and thank you for your commitment to Placer County! โญ

Today marks 82 years since D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history, which began on June 6, 1944. More than 156,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, in a decisive effort to liberate Europe from N**i control.

We are forever grateful for the bravery, sacrifice, and resolve of those who served. Their actions changed the course of history and defended the freedoms we cherish today.

In preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Sgt. Lamb and EOD K9 Stanley recently conducted a security sweep of Leviโ€™s Stadium.

The first World Cup match at Leviโ€™s Stadium is scheduled for June 13th, when fans from around the world will gather to cheer on their teams. The stadium is preparing to welcome thousands of fans as the 2026 World cup brings together 48 national teams competing across North America.

While athletes prepare for the competition on the field, EOD K9s Stanley and Leo will play a critical role behind the scenes. Throughout the tournament, they will be conducting venue sweeps and serving as a visible security presence to ensure a safe environment for spectators, staff, players, and officials during each match.

Weโ€™re proud of the dedication and professionalism of our K9 teams as they work alongside our law enforcement partners to support the safety and security of this world-class event.

Join us in wishing them good luck as they help welcome the world to Northern California! โšฝ

On May 27, Crimes Against Persons Detectives partnered with Placer County Probation Department to conduct a s*x offender compliance sweep. The operation included compliance checks at eight locations throughout Placer County.

During the sweep, two probationers were found to be out of compliance with the terms of their release. Investigators contacted the first one at the Mobile Temporary Shelter in Auburn and determined he was in violation of his Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS) conditions. He was arrested after being found in possession of drug paraphernalia, undisclosed electronic devices, and s*xually explicit material, which violated the terms of his supervision.

The second probationer contacted during the compliance operation was found in possession of s*xually explicit material, and a Violation of Probation was filed with the Court.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office and Placer County Probation regularly conduct compliance operations and other proactive enforcement efforts to monitor registered s*x offenders and help ensure they remain in compliance with the conditions of their release.

We were able to take part in some unique training last night because wildfires never seem to start at the most convenient time or in the easiest places to reach. Often, they happen in difficult terrain under the cover of darkness.

CAL FIRE NEU conducted night one of their annual Night Aerial Firefighting Exercise using their Night Exclusive Use Helicopters. So what does law enforcement have to do with that? When fires force evacuations, itโ€™s our job to help make sure people get out safely and quickly.

During last nightโ€™s training, members of the Placer County Sheriffโ€™s Office joined CAL FIRE to simulate a coordinated response under Unified Command. To make the exercise as realistic as possible, no lights were used, creating a true real-world environment for the air crews. So yes, we know this video is dark and hard to seeโ€ฆ but thatโ€™s kind of the point.

And a heads up, the training will take place again tonight. The Placer County portion of the exercise will utilize Lake Clementine.

As we head into wildfire season, strong partnerships and clear communication are more important than ever.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office and CAL FIRE NEU/Placer County Fire teamed up to host Unified Command Training exercises designed to strengthen coordination between law enforcement and fire agencies during large-scale emergencies.

This year's training was held over two days, with one session in North Lake Tahoe and another in Auburn. Approximately 80 participants took part in the exercises, which focused on improving communication, coordination, and decision-making during incidents such as wildfires.

When a wildfire threatens a community, law enforcement and fire personnel must work side-by-side to keep the public safe. From coordinating evacuations and maintaining clear evacuation routes to supporting firefighting operations, seamless teamwork is critical.

These annual exercises help build relationships, refine processes, and ensure agencies are ready to work together before an emergency happens.

We're grateful to our partner agencies who joined us for this year's training:
Auburn City Fire Department
Auburn Police Department (CA)
CHP - Truckee
Foresthill Fire Protection District
Nevada County Sheriff's Office
Nevada County Emergency Management
Northstar Fire Department
North Tahoe Fire Protection District
Placer Hills Fire Protection District
Rocklin Police Department

City of Roseville, California Police Department
South Placer Fire District
Truckee Fire Protection District
Truckee Police
Town of Truckee Emergency Management
U.S. Forest Service-Tahoe National Forest Law Enforcement

A big thank you to everyone who participated and a special thank you to Palisades Tahoe for hosting the East Slope training. Working together before an emergency occurs helps us better serve and protect our communities when it matters most.
