"King Sorrow" by Joe Hill (horror/fantasy)

“At 896 pages, 'King Sorrow' is packed full of fantasy, magic, crime, tragedy, and romance (in that order)! It centers around six young college friends and follows them from 1989 to 2022. In the beginning, they make a magical pact that has epic ramifications for the rest of their lives. The story of 'King Sorrow' evolves from “how far would you go to protect a friend?” to “how far would you go to protect the world?” with each of the six friends finding their own calling. It is one of my all-time favorite books!” — Andrea

"Keanu Reeves and China Miéville joined forces to adapt Keanu's 'BRZRKR' comic book series into a novel, and what makes it so interesting is that it's not a 1:1 adaptation. 'The Book of Elsewhere' follows B, an immortal being, across the whole of human existence. After experiencing thousands of lifetimes, he is tired and wants something more for himself, but the U.S. government has other plans for him. This book has one of the most compelling writing styles I've ever experienced!" — Kelsey

Told from different perspectives, the author explores consequences of keeping family secrets as well as delving into themes of family and gender dynamics, wealth, and social hierarchy. "The Correspondent" by Virginia Evans (fiction)

“Author Virginia Evans does a truly amazing job of telling her main character's story through letters and emails. Sybil Van Antwerp is a 70-something retired attorney, who spends much of her time hand writing letters in beautiful cursive penmanship. She is grumpy, intelligent, witty and judgmental. Through the letters, we learn of her guilt, grief, and regrets. The novel is balanced with lightness and humor. It's a wonderful, heartbreaking, heartwarming read.” — Susan

“As a millennial, this hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Brickley mastered the art of storytelling how a millennial lived in the world in the '00s, with the vulnerability of not knowing what you want in life, which is hard to capture. I just felt a genuine connection to this girl I was reading about, a bit lost but excited for the future. So well done and I flew through this book.” — Anastasia
