Auburn Firefighter Zach Stuhmer is pictured here practicing carrying an unconscious patient down a two story ladder on Monday evening.

This is a quick deployment method of removing someone from immediate danger above, be it a second story window or rooftop, to safety and assistance on the ground.

A few of our fireman had the opportunity to have lunch with the kids at the park this afternoon. Unfortunately it was cut short due to a call. We will be back Thursday so kids bring you swimming suits!!

We join so many others in mourning the loss of Chief Terry Nydegger.

Over the years, we had the privilege of working and training alongside Terry and the Sangamon County Rescue Squad. His knowledge, leadership, and guidance in the highly specialized rescue situations where SCRS excelled made a lasting impact on everyone who had the opportunity to learn from him.

Our deepest condolences go out to Terry's family, friends, and the entire Sangamon County Rescue Squad. Our thoughts are with all who knew and served alongside him during this difficult time.

Last night, your Auburn Fire & Rescue team trained on rural fire water operations, focusing on drafting from a portable dump tank and utilizing a tanker shuttle system.

Training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to deliver a reliable water supply in areas without hydrants, allowing us to respond quickly and effectively when every gallon counts.

We train hard so we're ready when our community needs us most. 🚒💧

🚒 Auburn FireDepartment Update 🚒

From January 1 through July 1, your Auburn Fire & Rescue Department responded to 308 calls for service, 51 in the month of June.

These calls represent emergencies, accidents, medical incidents, fire alarms, public service calls, and times when members of our community needed help. None of this would be possible without the commitment of our dedicated volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our volunteers for their continued and unwavering dedication to serving the Auburn community. Their willingness to answer the call—day or night, in all types of weather, and often while balancing family and work responsibilities—is truly appreciated.

Thank you, Auburn, for allowing us to serve you.
