Rates of foodborne illness tend to increase during the summer months because germs grow faster in warmer, more humid weather. People also cook and eat outside, making shortcuts to food safety tempting because they are away from the convenience of soap and running water at the kitchen sink. Dandelion print! This fun activity lets children experience the magic of blowing on a dandelion puffball and watching the seeds float away. It’s a great way to develop oral motor skills, which are important for speech development. Plus, it introduces children to the concept of cause and effect, and the idea of making wishes—perfect for a magical springtime moment!

Book recommendation: Dandelion By Don Freeman - This heartwarming story about a dandelion who wants to fit in but learns to embrace its uniqueness.
