𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥: As warmer weather arrives, please remember outdoor burning regulations within our district.

Residents outside King County Urban Growth Areas & outside the City of Black Diamond — where burning is prohibited — may obtain a 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝘄𝘄.𝗺𝘃𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲.𝗼𝗿𝗴.

Out annual burn ban is July 1 through Labor Day (may be extended) & burning is NOT allowed during a burn ban, even with a permit.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
• Permit required
• One pile only, max 4’x4’
• Yard debris only (sticks & leaves)
• No land clearing or burning trees
• A home must be on the property
• Debris cannot be moved from another property for burning
• No construction debris, painted, or treated wood

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀:
• No permit required
• One pile only, max 2’x2’
• Burn seasoned/dry firewood only
• No yard debris

𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦:
• Must be attended at all times
• Water source required onsite
• Must be extinguished if unattended

Lights, sirens, coordinated response — on 5/13/26, our own Mountain View Fire & Rescue Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3186 Firefighters' Cleveland & Sloniker joined numerous agencies from across the region for a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. About 100 participants took part in this Port of Seattle training exercise, designed to test how multiple agencies work together during complex, high-pressure emergencies involving large numbers of patients and responders.

From communication and coordination to triage and resource management, every detail matters when preparing for incidents on this scale. Drills like this strengthen partnerships, improve response capabilities, and help prepare responders to protect our communities and the traveling public when the unexpected happens.

May is 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 — knowing the signs of a stroke can save a life and every second counts.

Remember F.A.S.T.:
🧠 F – 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴- Does one side of the face droop or feel numb?
🧠 A – 𝗔𝗿𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 - Is one arm weak or numb?
🧠 S – 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 - Is speech slurred or hard to understand?
🧠 T – 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝟵𝟭𝟭 - If someone shows any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately!!

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country—and we humbly recognize and thank all who have served.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it began after the Civil War as a way to honor fallen soldiers and has become a national day of remembrance.

As you gather this holiday weekend, take a moment to reflect on what the day is truly about—and honor their sacrifice by looking out for one another. If alcohol is part of your plans, please arrange a sober ride—designate a driver, use a rideshare, or stay put. Keeping our roads safe helps ensure their sacrifice is never in vain.

May is 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, and as warmer weather approaches, now is the time to refresh your water safety habits before heading to a lakes, pool or beach (please stay out of rivers!).

Many water emergencies may be preventable with a few simple water safety tips:

💧 Wear a life jacket
💧 Swim where lifeguards are present
💧 Wear bright-colored swimwear
💧 Use caution around rivers (avoid whenever possible)
💧 Watch children closely — put phones down/ stay alert
💧 Know your limits around water
💧 Stay sober near water
💧 Learn CPR & swim skills

In Washington State, children 12 years old and younger are required to wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket while underway on vessels under 19 feet in length.

We hope you’ll join us at the Black Diamond America 250 Heritage Day event on June 6, 2026, beginning at 10 AM. The event celebrates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence and recognizes the rich history and heritage of the Black Diamond community.

Our firefighters will be there with an engine and/or aid unit to meet community members, answer questions, and give the public an opportunity to check out the apparatus up close.
