Navigating the Cyber World, Thursday, September 8

Running concurrently with Back-to-School Night classroom presentations, an educator from Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth will speak on internet and digital safety. He will present from 6:00-6:45pm and then again from 7:15-8:00pm.

This workshop reviews the challenges and dangerous situations that may arise through the use of the internet, social media, and smartphones. It is important for school staff and parents to be aware of the popular apps, social media sites, and programs used by youth online. This workshop explains the issues and possible consequences of cyberbullying, sexting, and revealing identifying information to strangers.

Cory Mashburn, M.Ed. has over 20 years of experience working with youth and people with disabilities, as well as over 10 years of expertise in the field of prevention services. As the father of two young children, he understands the importance of equipping youth, their families, and their communities with the knowledge and skills to enable young people to become the best version of themselves.

Newton South Indoor Boys Lacrosse Clinic

Get ready for spring with a winter lacrosse clinic run by Newton South! A great way to build skills and have some winter fun at a great price. Open to grades 4-8, the sessions are run by Newton South coaches and upperclass team members. Proceeds support the NSHS Lacrosse team.

Winter weather definitely makes travel to and from school more challenging. If school is open, our buses will run as scheduled. NPS has worked closely with the City's Department of Public Works (DPW) to create maps of sidewalks that will be plowed to ensure students can walk safely.
