Some of our members attended a training on how to work propane fires. They practiced working with fires from those caused by a small tank like those on a grill all the way upto an underground storage tank.

Our April EMR training consisted of trauma injuries and the proper care and handling of patients. We went over how to pack wounds, and use tourniquets properly. We also practiced how to stabilize an object that was impaling a patient and move them safely. We practiced scenarios from arriving on scene through the treatment and moving of the patient. A special Thank You to Ryan for being our patient and letting us have someone other than one of our own members as our patient.

Before all of the chaotic weather hit on Friday our Department parking lot turned into temporary Tractor parking for the Students of Auburndale on Drive Your Tractor to School Day. We are Proud to lead and follow the young women and men that bring the tractors from the area farms to school for this event. It shows the pride and hard work of the Farmers in our area and it is also an incredible Fundraiser for a local family every year. The fundraiser is always for a family in the area that has a child with medical expenses.

On Wednesday April 8th our Department as well as several other agencies participated in a mock car accident at the Auburndale High School. The purpose of this is to educate students on the hazards of distracted or impaired driving. We have students act as the patients during this to make it as realistic and heartfelt as we can. It takes a great deal of time and planning. That way all the agencies involved can come together and make it as realistic as possible. It also serves as a training for all the agencies involved.

We owe a huge Thank You to the agencies that were involved.
The members of Auburndale Joint Fire and Rescue Department
Wood County Sheriff Department
Life Link 3
Hansen Schilling Funeral Home

Today our new Engine Chassis took the next steps into becoming a major part of our fire protection fleet. It left our station to go to S&R Truck to begin the building process of the body. The second picture is a picture with the dimensions and an example of how the truck will look once it is completed.

Friday September 26th 3 members had the opportunity to help Auburndale FFA members teach 5th grade students about grainbin safety. We also taught them how we safely use the back board. In this situation we have Chief Bores with 25 years of first responder experience and Sarah who just finished her first responder training who did the back boarding.
Picture 6: is done only to show students how secure a patient needs to be to the backboard and is only done in educational setting with consent.
