This is an example of a three man team water fight. The teams are mixed with fire fighters from both Rudolph and Auburndale. It is important that departments learn to work together because when on an actual fire scene rarely are you working with only members from your own department.

On Saturday we had a joint training with Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department. The first two pictures are of Retired Founding member Jim Berdan in his original turnout out gear from 1965.

We had water fights that help teach hose and nozzle control and water placement for fast fire suppression. While at the fire station Rudolph also took the opportunity to show the Auburndale members how to do jet siphoning between porta tanks. With all of this it also gave members a chance to do some tender driving because water was transported from one of our nearby ponds.

We also set up at the Diane and Lenny Kremer Sr pond where we tried out a new tool and worked on relay pumping between engines. While we were there Rudolph worked with their deck gun to see if the tool we demoed could supply enough water to adequately feed an engine to run the deck gun.

The tool that we were trying out was a turbo draft. It is designed to help pull water out of ponds where there isn't a hydrant.

During Tractor Safety we also took time to show the students some first aid including what it was like to be strapped to a backboard. They also had the opportunity to learn how to use a fire extinguisher and what it was like to handle our 1 3/4 inch fire hose.

Recently we had the opportunity to teach some of our young community members during their Tractor Safety Class. We demonstrated our grain rescue tube in the classroom which is accompanied by a slide show. We also showed them our turnout gear, and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). If they wanted they had a chance to try on the gear, and help to put the grain tube together. Then the class moved out to Liquid Coin Dairy and saw a live demonstration of how the grain tube would be used to extricate someone that was trapped.

We were the second stop for 10 bike riders that are riding in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride. There are also 5 support staff making sure that they stay safe on their long ride. There are 5 total rides throughout the Nation. This particular ride is a 5 day ride that will end in the Twin Cities. We provided a meal for for them and a place to rest before the next leg of the journey.

We would like to Thank the Mike Brock Memorial Ride for the generous donation that allowed us to purchase the grain rescue auger for our grain bin rescue system. The donation also allowed us to purchase a cordless Milwaukee drill and impact driver to operate the auger.
