Our department will be participating in the Toys for Tots program this holiday season.

We are currently accepting new unwrapped, unopened toys between now to December 15th. The drop off location will be inside our department lobby at 100 Ariana Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823. Lobby hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm.

The purpose of the Toys for Tots program is to help children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas and to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resource: our children.

Today was Day 2 of welcoming students and their families to the Auburndale Fire Station for Fire Prevention Week. We have all sorts of fun activities for students, from handling firehoses to an obstacle course. We are very excited to continue entertaining and educating students and families throughout the week.

This Fire Prevention Week highlights the importance of safe lithium-ion battery charging habits. A few simple choices can help prevent battery-related fires:

• Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
• Charge devices on a hard, flat surface, never on a bed, pillow, or couch.
• Unplug your device when it is fully charged.
• Charge e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outdoors when possible, and never block exits while charging.
• Stop using a battery if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, smells strange, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.
• Look for products tested by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, such as UL, ETL, or CSA.

Safe charging is a SUPERPOWER! Help protect your home and family by charging safely and knowing the warning signs of a damaged battery.

We’re proud to recognize Auburndale Firefighter Miguel Santis for an outstanding performance at the 343 Hero Challenge, an annual fitness competition hosted by Orange County Fire Rescue honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The two-person team competition combines functional fitness exercises with fireground-inspired challenges designed to reflect some of the physical demands faced by firefighters. This year’s competitors took on five different challenges, testing strength, endurance, teamwork, and firefighting skills. The event also raises funds for charitable organizations supporting firefighters and the local community.

Firefighter Santis earned 1st place in his division, competing against 33 other teams from across Florida. He competed alongside a firefighter from the District Fire Department, formerly known as the Reedy Creek Fire Department. The department officially adopted the name District Fire Department in 2024.

Congratulations, Miguel, on this incredible accomplishment! We’re proud to see you represent our department and honor the legacy of the 343 heroes through your dedication, teamwork, and commitment to the fire service.

Art is a universal language and each year we receive hundreds of "thank you" art from the children in and out of our community. This year our Firefighters will be selecting 50-70 pieces of art to create our first ever "Thank You" wall! The selected artwork will be digitally compiled for a commercially printed, department wall display.

The wall will be displayed in our Community room as a way to remind our Firefighters all year long how appreciative the community is for their service. We thank them but we also thank each and every one of you who send us such kind words each year.

Our intent is to update the wall every few years.

The 2026 AFD Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirts pre-orders are now available!
Shirts are $25 each. Orders can be made at the Auburndale Fire Department. Shirts will be available to pick up in October. All profits will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida. CHECK AND CASH ONLY (Call Mrs. June between 8am - 12pm to pre-order and for payment).
