My heart is heavy as the Philadelphia region prepares to lay to rest Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald on Friday.
When will enough be enough? When will our top law and elected officials stand up for the men and women that protect and serve this Commonwealth and hold those accountable that senselessly kill our officers?
31-year old Police Officer Fitzgerald leaves behind a loving wife and four children. Chris previously served as both a Philadelphia Housing Police Officer and a Philadelphia Sheriff’s Deputy prior to joining the Temple University Police Department. Officer Fitzgerald was the first police officer in University’s history to be killed in the line of duty.
I send my love and prayers to Officer Fitzgerald’s wife, children, parents (who are also in law enforcement), extended family, and his brothers and sisters in blue. May all your memories wrap you in comfort through this most difficult time.
