🌨️ Attention Fellow Snowmobilers! 🌨️

Let's not wait any longer! It's important to understand the significance of registering your snowmobile in Maine. Registrations fund grant programs that help clubs build bridges and maintain and groom our trails. Some might think these dollars go to the state, but they fuel essential programs like Municipal and Club In-aid Grant Programs, The Disaster Relief Grant Program, and the Capital Equipment Grant Program for snowmobile clubs. Every Maine snowmobile club benefits from or has benefited from these initiatives.

The urgency cannot be overstated – please register your snowmobile now. ❄️ Show your support by registering your snowmobile, and if you can, consider joining a club and lending a helping hand. 🀝

Hello All,

Now that we are starting to get a handle on the destruction of the snowmobile trails caused by the December 18 storm, we want to give a current update on the trails. Clubs have costs of repairs well into the millions of dollars in bridge, culvert, and trail washout damage. The wind hitting the whole state has caused at least another $1 million in clean-up. This damage will take time to repair, and snowmobile trails must be built to connect our communities.

Because of the many generous landowners, volunteers, and willing contractors, dozens of bridges and culverts have been repaired to open the main snowmobile trails once the snow is here. There is still a lot of work to be done, and if you ride a snowmobile and use these trails, the clubs could use your help. Please be prepared for re-routes of ITS and locally used snowmobile trails.

Once the snow does get here, many of the state's 14,000 miles of snowmobile trails will open for a great riding season. If anyone needs specific reports on a certain area, I'd encourage them to contact the local snowmobile club. In many parts of Central and Western Maine, plan to encounter trails that have been re-routed.

Trail Notice. The Whistle Stop trail from Farmington to Rt 2/4 in Wilton has reopened. However, from Rt 2/4 in Wilton to Jay is closed indefinitely due to extensive washouts. This is a photo, taken by ORV staff and use to be a section of the trail. In the upper right-hand corner, you can see an individual standing, on what is left of the trail, next to a "stop ahead" sign. 😞

Trail Notice: The Whistle Stop Rail Trail from Jay to Farmington is CLOSED due to several washouts. STAY OFF the trail until the damage is assessed and repaired. Updates will be posted here and on the Western Maine ATV Club page. Thank you for your cooperation.

Trail Notice: Rain, rain go away. Due to the recent wet weather, several clubs in the state have been advised by landowners to temporarily close their trails until the ground is less saturated. Please make sure to check with the local clubs, before you head out to ride, to ensure the trail system is open. Do not move barriers or signs announcing trail closures, do not move gates or barricades to bypass and do not drive across fields or farmlands. Be safe and respect our landowners. Hopefully, sunny and dryer days are just around the corner.
