This week K-9 Aire and Dep. McClure assisted Columbia County Sheriffs Office at the UPS on Gordon Hwy. Dep. McClure and K-9 Aire we’re requested to conduct a search of packages at UPS and K-9 Aire had an odor response on one of the packages.

Good job K-9 Mally and several members of the Richmond County K-9 Unit/Traffic Unit along with Hephzibah PD for tracking and locating a suspect from a burglary. The suspect was attempting to take several fi****ms from a residence.

We regret to inform you that today, 08/02/2023 retired K-9 Axel passed away.

K-9 Axel was born 09/03/2013 and started his career with the Richmond County Sheriffs Office in 2016 detecting narcotics. K-9 Axel was handled by Calvin Davis and then by Dep. William McClure until he retired on 07/26/2021. K-9 Axel lived with Dep. McClure and his family after retirement.

Thank you to Georgia Police K9 Foundation for all your help with K-9 Axel! It was very much appreciated and allowed Dep. McClure to enjoy a little more time with K-9 Axel!

K-9 Axel you will be missed so much by many. Rest in peace boy!! 🐾

On June 9th, the K9 unit participated in the Sheriff’s Office Kids and Cops Summer Camp. Members of the K9 Unit enjoyed playing games and showing off their partners to all of the campers. It was a good time had by all!!!

Deputy Hucko and K-9 Arie were called out to assist the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force in tracking a felon who was wanted for numerous gun thefts thought out GA and SC.

Dep. Hucko and K-9 Arie tracked for approximately 4 miles through some extremely rough terrain and over several fences. Their hard work paid off with K-9 Arie locating the subject!!! Great work to all involved especially Dep. Hucko and K-9 Arie!!!
