Maine Career Exploration Growing our workforce. For Maine. In Maine. We can pay up to 75 hours for a student’s work experience with your company!

Our goal is to introduce thousands of Maine's young people to future work options & prepare them for successful careers here in Maine. The Maine Career Exploration Program's mission is to introduce Maine's young people to the workforce by connecting them with paid work experiences. Since its launch in October 2022, the program has connected more than 6,000 participants with paid work experiences.

A $25 million grant pays for work experiences of all kinds, for ages 16-24 and all Maine businesses are eligible to participate. Let's grow our workforce and provide a strong foundation for our future economy!

The MCE program connected more than 6,000 young Mainers to valuable job opportunities, in addition to expanding Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) initiatives to 26 sites across Maine and guiding hundreds of young Mainers through job-readiness programming.
