Maine's workforce needs show up in every corner of the state, and UMA is helping people build careers right where they live.

Through flexible programs in health care, aviation, cybersecurity, public service and other high-need fields, our students are gaining skills they can put to work here at home.

That work was part of a statewide conversation on Maine Calling today. President Jenifer Cushman joined Maine Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman and Dan Belyea of the Maine Community College System.

Major General Diane Dunn, vice chair of UMA’s Board of Visitors, also joined the program, along with recent UMA graduate Dan Cowan and dental hygiene student Lila Pierce. Dan completed UMA's Aircraft Maintenance Technician School and is also a graduate of our Uncrewed Aircraft Systems program. Lila is getting ready for a career serving Maine communities.

We're proud to be part of this work and even prouder of the students and graduates preparing to meet real needs across Maine.

These future cybersecurity pros are just getting started.

At Cybersecurity Summer Camp, young learners spent two days cracking ciphers, exploring cryptography and steganography, and talking through the ethics of protecting information.

UMA is proud to meet students where they are and give them a real first look at a future in cybersecurity. Together we are building Maine’s next generation of cybersecurity professionals!
