🚨 Teachable Tuesday: Critical Thinking in Action

During a recent medical call, a frantic caller was unable to clearly identify their location while trying to help a loved one in distress. Through patience, active listening, and focused questions, one of our 911 professionals was able to gather critical information, pinpoint the location, and continue assessing the patient's condition while reassuring the caller that help was on the way.

Sometimes, the most powerful tool we have is our voice 💛

Our dispatchers love a good challenge… and last week was no exception!

Augusta 911 recently participated in an outstanding ProQA Refresher Training, and the engagement was second to none. From great discussions and shared experiences to friendly competition, participation was high and learning was in full swing.

To make things even more fun, challenge coins were awarded for class participation, and a few of our team members proudly rose to the occasion!

A special shout-out to Christopher Bradford for delivering an informative, interactive, and enjoyable course. Thank you for investing in our team and creating an environment that encouraged participation, critical thinking, and a few laughs along the way.

Meet Daniel R. Dunlap, Director of Augusta 911.

When asked how his journey from the communications floor to leadership helped shape the leader he is today, Director Dunlap reflected on the experiences that taught him the value of people and the importance of recognizing the contributions of others.

One thing many employees would tell you about Daniel R. Dunlap is that he is approachable. Whether you've been here for years or you're in your first weeks of training, he makes time to listen, encourage, and connect with the people who make Augusta 911 successful.

His leadership style is built on relationships, respect, and recognizing the hard work happening throughout the center every day.

Meet Henry Sevion III, Training Specialist and retired Drill Sergeant. For 20 years, Henry has served the Augusta 911 community with leadership, discipline, and a commitment to doing the right thing.

Henry’s impact reaches far beyond the headset. Through mentorship, professionalism, and a heart for service, he continues to help shape the next generation of emergency communications professionals.

🚨 Men of Augusta 911 Spotlight 🚨

Meet CO Ian Baskett, one of our Communications Officers in Training.

When asked what he wished the public knew about 911 professionals, Ian didn't hesitate. He shared that he wishes people understood just how hard dispatchers work behind the scenes every day.

From answering emergency calls to managing high call volumes and providing critical information to first responders, the work never stops. Even as a trainee, Ian has already been surprised by the sheer number of calls that come into the center and has gained a new appreciation for the dedication it takes to serve this community.

Behind every headset is a person committed to helping others, often during some of their most difficult moments.

Thank you, Ian, for choosing a career of service. We are proud to have you on the Augusta 911 team and look forward to watching your journey continue.
