Maine Developmental Disabilities Council

Maine Developmental Disabilities Council MDDC works to advocate, build capacity, and change systems with and for people with DD and I/DD

MDDC is a partnership of people with developmental disabilities, family members, and state and local agencies and organizations. Together, we aim to create a Maine where every individual is valued and respected, as we believe that inclusive communities are stronger communities. Our mission is to promote and advocate for equal opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. We work t

irelessly to support policy advocacy, ensuring that the voices of individuals with disabilities are heard and their rights are protected. We are dedicated to providing valuable information that empowers individuals and families, as well as fostering meaningful dialogue around disability rights and inclusion. Explore our website to learn more about our history, projects, and the range of resources available to support individuals with developmental disabilities. We are proud to share our latest project, "Out of the Shadows," which sheds light on the journey of residents transitioning from a mental institution to community living.
