We appreciate the CDCE (Voluntary Service) Team's efforts today in conducting a much-needed cleanup at VA Augusta's Modoc location. The property has undergone significant tree removal recently following Hurricane Helene and repairs are progressing toward reopening to serve Veterans.

Statesboro-area Veterans, join VA Augusta for a Stand Down for Veterans at the American Legion Dexter Allen Post 90 at 100 Rucker Lane in Statesboro from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 18. In celebration of Juneteenth and the advancement of human rights the holiday represents, VA Augusta is sharing reflections from our staff on what Juneteenth represents to them throughout the month of June. Today we hear from Dr. Joseph T. Morris III, Internal Medicine Residency Program Site Director & Army Veteran: “Juneteenth is a reminder that the remaining enslaved population in Galveston, Texas, was informed June 19, 1865, by Army Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger that they were free by his issuance of General Order No. 3. President Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863, two and a half years earlier!”
