Does my employer have to give we time off to go vote?

Yes, Each employee in this state shall, upon reasonable notice to his or her employer, be permitted by his or her employer to take any necessary time off from his or her employment to vote in any municipal, county, state, or federal political party primary or election for which such employee is qualified and registered to vote either on one of the days that are designated for advance in-person voting or on the day on which such primary or election is held; provided, however, that such necessary time off shall not exceed two hours. The Election Will Go On as Planned

Recent headlines about court cases and election laws may cause questions or uncertainty. We want Richmond County voters to know that preparations for the November 3, 2026 General and Special Election are moving forward as planned.

Our responsibility is simple: follow the law, prepare for the election, train our Election Officials, test our equipment, and make sure voters have the information they need to participate.

Don't let the headlines discourage you from voting.

Instead:

PLAN how you will vote.
PREPARE by checking your registration and voting information.
ENGAGE by exercising your right to vote.

Election laws and court cases may make headlines. Our commitment to conducting a fair, accurate, secure, and transparent election remains the same.
