Today we pause to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day. It’s a day to honor the valor, acknowledge the sacrifice, and remember the lives of those who fought for the ideals we hold dear.

Today, we stand united in gratitude for the selfless service members who laid down their lives in the name of liberty and justice. Their legacy continues to inspire us, reminding us that freedom is not free—it is a precious gift, paid for with the courage and blood of our nation’s finest.

To the families who carry the memory of a loved one lost, know that your nation shares in your pride and your sorrow. Your heroes are our heroes, and their stories will forever be etched in the heart of America.

Let us all take a moment to offer a silent prayer of thanks, to ensure that the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers are never forgotten. On this Memorial Day, we pledge to hold their memories close, to live with purpose worthy of their sacrifice, and to uphold the principles for which they so bravely fought.

Happy World Baking Day!
Today's the perfect excuse to whip up some delicious treats in the kitchen. But baking isn't just about yummy results – it's a fun and rewarding recreational activity that offers surprising benefits! Here's why getting your bake on is a win-win:

Mental Boost: Baking is a great stress reliever. Focusing on measuring ingredients and following steps gives your mind a break from daily worries.

Creativity Flow: From choosing a recipe to decorating your masterpiece, baking allows you to express your creativity and personalize your bakes.

Sense of Accomplishment: There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of pulling a perfectly baked treat out of the oven! It's a confidence booster and a reminder of your skills.

Sharing is Caring: Baking is a social activity! Share your treats with friends, family, or neighbors and spread the joy.

Remember, a balanced lifestyle is key! While baking is a blast, don't forget to incorporate some physical activity into your routine. Here's how you can create a healthy balance:

Go for a walk or jog before preheating the oven. Our parks are open and ready for you – and the Robert Howard Community Center has a climatized indoor walking track!

Put on some music and have a dance party while your creation bakes.

Plan a post-baking walk or bike ride with your friends to enjoy your treats guilt-free. Or find a fun activity to participate in on our website https://bit.ly/AugParksAndRec.
