| Memorial Day Edition

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today and continues to inspire generations of Americans.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and the extraordinary cost of freedom.

We remember and honor those who never came home. 🇺🇸

Something exciting is happening in Maine manufacturing.

Across our state, manufacturers are growing, innovating, investing, and creating opportunities that are helping shape Maine’s future. From advanced technologies and defense manufacturing to precision machining, composites, forest products, food production, and beyond, the momentum is real.

At MAME, we believe the story of Maine manufacturing deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

This video is just a preview of what’s to come.

Over the coming months, we’ll be shining a brighter spotlight on the people, companies, careers, and innovation driving Maine’s manufacturing sector forward and helping inspire the next generation to see the opportunities that exist right here at home.

The future of manufacturing in Maine is being built right now and we’re excited to help tell that story!

What a day for Maine manufacturing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Friday for our 2026 Annual Manufacturing Summit and the MAME & Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC) Gubernatorial Forum.

This year’s Summit saw record attendance, bringing together manufacturers, industry partners, educators, policymakers, students, and economic and workforce development leaders from across Maine for a full day of conversations focused on advancing the future of manufacturing in Maine.

We are incredibly grateful to our keynote speaker, U.S. Senator Susan Collins, and guest speaker, Commissioner Michael Duguay from the Maine State Department of Economic and Community Development, for sharing their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing Maine manufacturers.

The program also featured an outstanding Advanced Manufacturing Panel, led by the Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of Maine and the Roux Institute at Northeastern University, highlighting innovation and the future of advanced manufacturing in Maine.

One of the highlights of the day was our Future Generation panel, featuring students involved in SkillsUSA Maine and Career & Technical Education programs from across the state. Their perspectives on workforce development, career pathways, and the future of manufacturing were incredibly valuable and encouraging.

We also want to thank the organizations that shared important new initiatives and resources for Maine manufacturers, including:

- Clear Point Health and Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. for presenting on the new MAME health insurance captive

- Constellation for sharing a new energy efficiency program for manufacturers

- The Maine Department of Labor for announcing the launch of a new training reimbursement fund supporting defense and advanced manufacturing - https://lnkd.in/efubVV-e

Thank you as well to all of the gubernatorial candidates who participated in the forum and engaged directly with Maine’s manufacturing and forest products communities.

A special thank you to NEWS CENTER Maine for live streaming the forum and helping expand the conversation to audiences across the state. If you missed the live event, you can view the recording here: https://lnkd.in/ec2xxWcm

Most importantly, thank you to Maine’s manufacturers and industry partners for continuing to show up, collaborate, and help shape the future of manufacturing in Maine.

From Maine to the Moon

One of the biggest challenges facing manufacturing isn’t a lack of opportunity. It’s a lack of awareness.

Many people simply don’t realize that work happening inside Maine manufacturing facilities contributes to projects seen around the world… and even beyond it.

Two MAME members — FMI and Elmet Technologies — contributed to Artemis II, led by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, part of the mission to return humans to the Moon.

- FMI, based in Biddeford, provided critical propulsion components for the Orion Launch Abort System, designed to propel the crew module away from the rocket within milliseconds if a life-threatening event occurs during launch.

- Elmet Technologies, headquartered in Lewiston, supplied high-performance tungsten materials and precision components capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of spaceflight.

Behind these achievements are the engineers, machinists, technicians, and skilled professionals right here in Maine who make this work possible every day.

It’s a powerful reminder that a career in Maine manufacturing can contribute to some of the most ambitious missions in the world.

| Manufacturing Showing Signs of Growth

The latest Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing PMI registered 52.6 in January, moving back into expansion territory after more than a year of contraction.

Growth in new orders and production suggests demand is beginning to strengthen, and low customer inventories point to potential momentum in the months ahead.

For Maine manufacturers, national trends like this matter. While our state often experiences economic shifts a bit later than the national cycle, improving conditions nationally can signal stronger demand for the products Maine companies supply across the country and around the world.

Challenges still remain, including workforce constraints, rising costs, and ongoing uncertainty, but the latest data points to cautious optimism for the year ahead.

Maine manufacturers are resilient, adaptable, and ready to play their part as growth returns.

| Manufacturing Means Opportunity

For many people, manufacturing is more than a job. It’s a path forward.

Across Maine, manufacturing provides something our communities need more of: Opportunity.

Opportunity to build a career without leaving the state. Opportunity to earn strong wages and benefits. Opportunity to learn new skills, grow, and take pride in meaningful work.

For students unsure of their next step, for career changers looking for stability, and for communities working to keep their workforce local, manufacturing offers something powerful: Hope.

Hope that good careers still exist. Hope that hard work leads to advancement. Hope that you can build a future right here in Maine.

At MAME, our mission is to make sure more people see manufacturing for what it truly is — a pathway to opportunity, stability, and long-term success.
