January 13th marked the deadline for error corrections (called challenges) to the official national map th...

Did you know that The ConnectMaine Authority is now an operational unit of the Maine Connectivity Authority? The functional integration of MCA and ConnectMaine operations provides a “single door” solution and simplifies access for Maine citizens, broadband stakeholders, and governmental partners.

By streamlining operations and financial resources, the State can efficiently plan, develop, fund, and maintain our broadband infrastructure. This will allow MCA to accelerate the pace of planning and deployment of funds building from Maine’s model of high-impact broadband policies and practices.

ConnectMaine funding, responsibilities, and staffing have been contractually assigned to MCA by the ConnectMaine Authority Board of Directors.

To learn more, please head to the Maine Connectivity Authority website. You can follow us on the new MCA social media channels while you're there!

The Maine Connectivity Authority seeks to achieve universal, affordable and resilient access to high speed internet for everyone in Maine.

Eric Storm’s picture of Monhegan Island. Monhegan was a 2020 Reconnect USDA grant awardee. ConnectMaine provided a small match for that grant, and recently awarded additional funding to support the building of a new Tower outside the quite bureaucratic and burdensome process of the USDA grant. Keeping this community owned project on track is important to the island!

Indian Township getting fiber! Thanks to a partnership between the tribe, Pioneer Broadband and ConnectMaine. Princeton, Alexander and Cooper next!

Big news from Indian Township! In partnership with the Passamaquoddy Tribe, Pioneer Broadband is wrapping up the installation of fiber optic cables that will connect directly to the homes in this community that previously had NO access to broadband internet. This project has been made possible with support from a Connect Maine grant and matching funding provided by several other philanthropic partners. Indian Township has also joined the Downeast Broadband Utility, so this project will be part of the municipal broadband utility owned by Calais, Baileyville, Alexander, and Indian Township.

The NTIA’s BEAD program represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bridge the digital divide once and for all. Though the landscape and process of building broadband infrastructure is complex, there is no reason that every home and business in the US can’t be connected to fast, affordable ...
