Greater Augusta Employer Committee - GAEC Connecting local employment agencies to the CSRA business community. Additionally, it has legislatively mandated employment and training related functions.

The Greater Augusta Employer Committee is made up of a group of local business representatives who have established and maintained a working relationship with the Georgia Department of Labor's Career Center and the employer community. The partnership involves:

• Acting as a sounding board for proposed and ongoing Department of Labor policies, procedures and programs
• Identifying and recommendi

ng ways to meet community employment related needs'
• Furthering community awareness of the Department of Labor Career Center
• Serving as mentors to and resources for other local employers
• Hosting or co-sponsoring seminars on a myriad of employment related issues"

The Georgia Department of Labor is primarily funded by employer tax dollars to provide efficient labor exchange services and to operate employment services and the unemployment insurance system. A Strong partnership between government and business means a better return on your tax dollars. Why Join?

JOIN GAEC June 15th for our next meeting!!

Our Speaker will be Tonny McNeil

Tonny McNeil has more than twenty years of economic development experience in both the public and private sector, highlighted by his focus on the recruitment of new industry and retention of existing industry. During his tenure in Dillon County, South Carolina McNeil spearheaded $500M of new investment, certified (8) Industrial Parks which included a 3,400 acre Mega-Site, developed and constructed Dillon County's first speculative building which resulted in the announcement of Wyman Gordon a Tri-County Industrial Park owned by three counties. McMillan also established on-site medical clinics for two employers that employed over 1,000 workers and helped to deliver the first public transportation system focused on the local citizen workforce.
McNeil's most noted accomplishments include: Wyman-Gordon (Aerospace Company) which was a $180M investment and 400 new jobs for Dillon County, Harbor Freight Tools (Distribution) 1M Square Foot Expansion which was a $100M investment and 250 new jobs, a second Harbor Freight Tools (Distribution) expansion 1M Square Foot Expansion which was $100M and 600 jobs, Perdue Farms (Food Processing) which was $20M and 124 jobs, KB Biotech Solutions (Life Science) $40M and 100 jobs, East Nile Farms (Agricultural) $20M and 200 jobs and Pine Gate Renewables (Solar) a $40M-60 acre Solar Farm. The Dillon Inland Port (Extension of the Port of Charleston) which has a $50 Billion dollar annual impact on Dillon County and the State of South Carolina, He has also received several awards related to Economic Development, Community Development and patents for processes and mechanical designs he created while he was working as a Mechanical Engineer and Robotics programmer.
Mr. McNeil is a native of Dillon, SC and the youngest of five siblings. He has served on the Mcleod Dillon Hospital Advisory Board, Board of Directors for First Steps, Board of Directors for RALI, South Elementary School Council Board, Dillon County Public-Private Partnership Board, Board of Directors for Healthy Learners, and President of the Gateway Park Corporation. Mr. McNeil's education includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Economic Development (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill- School of Government), Economic Development (South Carolina Department of Commerce), East Carolina University (Certified Economic Developer Candidate-May 2022) and a Robotic Programmer Certificate from Automated Cells and Equipment (Painted Post, NY).

Find out how Augusta Technical College can assist your business or organization. Join us next Wednesday January 19th at 8am!! Our Speaker will be Alejandra Miles.

Alejandra Miles is the new Director of Corporate & Community Education at Augusta Technical College. In this capacity, Ms. Miles is responsible for the day-to-day operations of non-credit continuing education programs, corporate & industry training, and testing center. Ms. Miles also works closely with the community and industry to make positive relationships and foment the organic development of the area workforce.

Previously, Ms. Miles worked at Augusta University in the Office of Military and Veteran Services, first as a military coordinator and VA school Certifying Official, and later as the AU Fort Gordon site coordinator. In that capacity, Alejandra focused on non-traditional students to include active duty and military-affiliated families and was passionate about mentoring and helping students achieve their life and academic goals.

Alejandra is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Higher Education Leadership from Georgia Southern University and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. She is originally from Mexico but has been in the CSRA area for over 6 years with her two daughters Natalia (15) and Sofia (12).

You Don't Miss Tomorrow's Meeting

Charles Jackson joins the Augusta Administrator’s Office with over 25 years of public service experience and will serve Augusta as Deputy Administrator. A native of Whiteville, North Carolina, Charles holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fayetteville State University.
Charles brings to Augusta years of broad public service experience, working at the state, county and municipal levels. His areas of specialization include, fiscal policy, operations management and program evaluation. As a tireless and dedicated professional, Charles is an active member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the American Public Works Association (APWA). He has also received Lean Six Sigma certification in 2016.
Prior to joining Augusta, Charles most recently served as County Manager of Northampton County, overseeing each of the county agencies and managing its budget. His leadership produced several community-wide projects related to public safety, quality of life and neighborhood improvement. Perhaps his greatest achievement is eliminating the county’s three-year deficit of financial statement audits, bringing the county into compliance.
Charles has been an active member in civic and community organizations, including the FBI Citizens Academy, Richmond Police Citizens Academy and the Richmond Public Utilities Citizens Academy.

September has arrived! We hope this month is off to a great start for you! We are excited to announce this month's speaker.

Sharon DuBose
Planner/Project Manager
CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. (CSRA EOA, Inc.)
A native of Augusta, Sharon DuBose graduated from Augusta University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and from Southern New Hampshire University with a Master’s Degree in Community Economic Development. She has over twenty-five years of experience in project management, program planning and evaluation, is a SEACAA (Southeastern Association of Community Action Agencies) Certified Manager, a Nationally Certified Community Action Professional, and a Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional. Sharon’s professional experience includes over 22 years working with a nonprofit Community Action Agency in project planning, agency planning, grant writing and project management. She also worked as a Project Manager at Aiken Technical College, as a Project Manager with the Regional Commission, and with various projects with CSRA JTPA/Richmond-Burke JTA under the Job Training Partnership Act and Workforce Investment Act, and with the Augusta Housing Authority as the Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator. Sharon served as a One Stop Career Center committee member, Youth Council member, and on a local nonprofit board. In her personal time, Sharon enjoys reading, spending time with her family, friends, and pets, and enjoys long walks, puzzles, outdoor games, and gardening.
