CASA volunteers are in frequent contact with teachers and school administrators to form a partnership to better understand the child’s unique strengths, interests, and challenges. These interactions, combined with the volunteer’s relationship with the child, empower volunteers to advocate in court for what the child needs to thrive academically.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This year's theme is “A World of Opportunities” – celebrating people and working together to remove obstacles. The goal of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is to build a community that’s committed to creating a world where everyone can do well and succeed. Children and youth with special healthcare needs enter foster care at higher rates than their peers without special healthcare needs. These children benefit from the help of CASA volunteers who can ensure they receive the specialized support and services needed to thrive. We are grateful for all the work you do!

International Volunteer Day is December 5

International Volunteer Day was established to recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers worldwide.

This December 5th we acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable achievements of Maine CASA volunteers and their impact on the lives of children and families. Thank you to our volunteers for all your hard work on behalf of Maine children.

In observance of National Foster Care Month in May, Maine CASA greatly appreciates Maine foster families who have opened their homes and remained resilient, as well as CASA volunteers who have continued to make a difference in the lives of children and youth in the Maine foster care system.
