The Augusta Canal National Heritage Area mission is to preserve, protect and interpret the canal's man-made and natural environments through historic preservation, interpretation, education, recreation, conservation, and economic development. Entertaining guides narrate the open-air trips on the Canal's Petersburg Boats. You'll see 19th Century textile mills, the Confederate Powder Works site and
two of Georgia's only remaining 18th Century houses. And you might spy wildlife including heron, otter and even the occasional alligator The 36-passenger open boats depart from the docks at Enterprise Mill. Public one hour tours or private charters are available. Museum and boats available for parties/ events.
