On May 25, 1991, the Maine Law Enforcement Officers Memorial was officially dedicated.

“Located on State Street just outside the State House, this granite monument honors Maine police, game wardens, and sheriffs who have died in the line of duty.”

Today, several other memorials have been added to the site.

About this time, in 1994, I learned that I had received the LBJ Congressional Internship Award and Scholarship, which helped me to pay for housing while I worked for Congressman Jack Reed's Office. It was a transformative experience. Jack Reed is a true servant-leader, and I've learned so much from him and other public servants over the years.

Since then, I've had a career in education as well as my own journey in public service: from being appointed by Mayor Avedesian to the City of Warwick Diversity Committee, to being appointed to the Jefferson County Historic Commission and the First Judicial Retention Commission, to being appointed to the Providence African Ambassadors Group, and being elected to the Branford Representative Town Meeting. In each community that I've lived in, I've tried to give back. That's how my parents raised me.

I look forward to serving our Augusta community in the Maine House.

We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.
